Dancing So Freaky by Another New Thing

Lyrically, “Dancing So Freaky”  started with the idea of creating a new instructional dance-move song, inspired by classics like The Locomotion and The Time Warp. Something children could enjoy, or maybe very drunk adults on holiday in Skegness.

We also thought this idea would make a great music video, which is currently in development.

​In terms of production the track originated from a jam session by Don, who was experimenting with sounds and looping textures on a newly acquired synthesizer (a role usually reserved for Paul). After laying down his customary bassline, Don sent the track across the ocean to Dean for further collaboration. The top line was written and sung through a vocoder and cardboard wobble board solo was added. Finally Paul stepped in to garnish the whole ensemble with some of his pretty synthesizer melodies and riffs.

And thus a new dance craze was born.

 

A.N.T. men Paul and Don foolishly filmed themselves ‘performing R&D’ for Another New Thing via improvisational noodling whilst Dean A.N.T. was off doing Monstrous things in the North country…or so ran the rumours that weekend. Was anything learned? Possibly, though no-one admits to anything. Of note Is a segment towards the middle somewhere where everything goes awry (though surely some viewers will find it all wry), prompting Paul A.N.T. to restart the entire universal timeline by pushing a button on the Cirklon device. Etheric disturbances were reported to local authorities at the time. In the video there are some observable anomalies occurring immediately after the button is activated for the alert viewer to…observe. The ‘research’ jam session merely picks up again, albeit in a different direction, until Paul A.N.T. finds himself alone and deletes the experiments existence in favor of a cup of tea.
